Lady 18ers Launch their 2017 Golf Season

By Teddi Swanson

On Thursday, February 9 the Rossmoor ladies 18-hole golf club launched their 2017 season with 76 ladies in attendance. The women had an opportunity to sign up for team play, open days, birdies and eclectic tournaments. Further to that they were given a lesson on how to add the GHIN app to their cell phones as well as have the opportunity to learn about new rules. There were also questions that applied to the handicapping and rules of golf for each table to read and answer as a group.

Creekside provided a delicious sandwich lunch with homemade potato chips and sweet deserts.

Director of Golf, Mark Heptig, and Apprentice PGA Golf Professional, Chris Andres,  talked  to the ladies about proper warm ups and stretching as well as short game practice after many days of rain which has resulted in the inability to play golf. Mark also gave us the rain fall totals so far this year.

Teddi Swanson, Captain, presided over the general meeting at which time she introduced the Chairs of the various committees. Each committee chair gave a brief report and the new members were introduced to the golf club. The event chairwomen for the 2017 year were also introduced as well as Stella Chan who will be the new Open Day chair. The club passed the revision of the by-laws and were also asked to volunteer for a course care representative as well as someone to produce envelopes for upcoming events.

Margo Dutton, past captain, presented a computer lesson on the big screen on how to navigate through the RossmoorGolf.com website as well as the WGANC (Women’s Golf Association of Northern California) website.

Finally, a huge thank you goes to Bari Mantel for organizing a wonderful day for the lady 18er golfers to launch their season.
