Since last Friday, April 3rd, my wife Marilyn and I have been working very hard to support an organization called The Monument Crisis Center. Marilyn saw a Face Book post talking about their need for donations of money and non-perishable food items. Since that day we have collected over $5000 and 2 SUVs full of food. This has this been exciting!
Last week, I wrote an article about Silver Linings, discussing if there a Silver Lining within the pandemic we’re experiencing. The truth is that the you, the people of Rossmoor are the Silver Lining. You have stood up and provided food for hundreds of people that are in dire need.
The last week has been filled with special experiences for us. Once we decided that we needed to help the Crisis Center, we reached out to organizations in which we participate. The Rossmoor Men’s Golf Club was 1st to participate. As a matter of fact, the 1st person who gave a donation had 4 heavy boxes of food on his front porch. Another member gave us a check for $500. The generosity has continued through today. We have reached out to the other golf clubs as well as social and political organizations with great response.
Marilyn and I have been driving all over Rossmoor picking up goods and checks. I actually never truly appreciated the beauty of our community. I also wasn’t aware of all the little nooks and crannies that make up Rossmoor.
This pandemic is going to continue. We are a community of people who are blessed and resting comfortably in our beautiful homes. If you can find it in your hearts to reach out to your friends to participate in this food drive, please let us know and we’ll continue to pick up non-perishable food items and checks made to Monument Crisis Center. As the weeks go forward the need will increase because people will be out of work for longer periods of time. Every time the Monument Crisis Center has a food giveaway, the lines get longer.
I want to thank you for all you help. I hope that we can continue to pass your generosity forward. Y’all are blessings as you sit in your home.
